American National Fish and
Wildlife Museum The American National Fish and
Wildlife Museum educates visitors about the value of fish and wildlife,
helps them appreciate the heritage of hunting and fishing, and motivates
their personal involvement in the conservation of natural resources.
It is an excellent facility well worth visiting, and is conveniently
located in Springfield, Missouri next to the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World.
Black Dog Sports
Mid-Missouri TU member Tom James' Web site offers several items of
interest, including two professionally produced videos. The first is
Fly Fishing Missouri's Trout Streams, which gives the viewer an
overview of the fine trout fishing opportunities we have here in Missouri.
The second is The North Fork of the White River, which focuses on
the river that has the largest population of wild trout in the region.
The North Fork video is particularly fun to watch because it features
Mid-Missouri TU member and outdoor writer Spencer Turner in action.
It also features a number of other people you may know, including guide
Shawn Taylor of Tecumseh, Missouri and Myron McKee of the River of Life
Farm.
Branson Outdoor Activities Message Board This message
board usually includes some good threads about trout fishing in Lake
Taneycomo. The usual warnings about message boards apply, of course,
so take things you read with a grain of salt.
Ozark Chronicles Message
Board Another Missouri message board that includes discussions
of interest to Missouri trout anglers. Again, as with any message
board, don't believe everything you read.
Conservation Federation of Missouri
Like every other major conservation organization in the state,
Mid-Missouri Trout Unlimited is affiliated with the Conservation
Federation of Missouri. The Conservation Federation was originally
the grassroots organization that brought about the creation of the
Missouri Department of Conservation, and it did much to bring about the
small sales tax that funds MDC. The ongoing work of the Conservation
Federation of Missouri does a tremendous amount of good, and this Web site
contains a lot of important information.
Missouri
Department of Conservation Fishing Page The Missouri
Department of Conservation's Web site contains a wide variety of
information that you are sure to find interesting. Among many other
things, it includes the
Plan for Missouri Trout Fishing that was approved by the Conservation
Commission of October 9, 2003, and issues of
The Missouri Conservationist
Magazine .
Missouri Department of
Natural Resources News Like MDC, the Missouri
Department of Natural Resources has a good Web site covering a large
number of subjects of interest. Reading the DNR News Releases page
is a good way to keep abreast of important developments happening around
the state.
Ozark Anglers.com
Branson Trout Unlimited member Phil Lilley owns and operates the famous
Lilley's Landing on Lake Taneycomo. His Web site has a wide variety
of useful information, and even includes some fascinating photos of the
freshwater shrimp he keeps in an aquarium.
Ozark Weather and
Trout Fishing Reports Mid-Missouri TU member Jim
Washabaugh's Web site contains a great deal of information about the
spring creeks in our Missouri parks. It includes a page of weather
and fishing report links that can help you get the most enjoyment out of
your time on the stream, regardless of where you fish in the region.
River of Life Farm
Myron McKee's River of Life Farm is a favorite destination of many
Mid-Missouri TU members, and has been featured in a number of major
publications. The Falls is an excellent place to fish on the North
Fork, and the River of Life Farm has a great deal to offer the non-angling
members of your family as well. As mentioned above, it was featured in Tom
James' terrific video, The North Fork of the White River, if you'd
like to learn more.
Stream Side Adventures
Norm Crisp is one of the nation's most knowledgeable fly fishers and is a
strong supporter of Mid-Missouri TU and coldwater conservation. His
Web site is excellent and contains a great deal of interest including
information about his guide service, seminars, online how-to fly fishing
information, and much more.
The Tying Bench
Mid-Missouri TU member Mark Van Patten has an excellent television show
that is carried on many PBS stations. Here in Mid-Missouri, it can
be seen on KMOS, out of
Warrensburg. Mark's Web site has some really good information,
including fly recipes and how you can order copies of previous programs
for a very reasonable cost.
